Dear Fellow Bridal Shop Owner,
Thank you for your continuous support of our independent brick and mortar bridal store industry. As recent reports have indicated, the 10% China Tariff is active and will have an effect on our stores. Since November, the National Bridal Retailers Association (NBRA) has been working on this issue and recently mailed out 533 letters - one to each US Senator and Representative.
But the time is NOW for YOU to have your voice heard.
The NBRA wrote the attached sample letter for stores outlining how the tariff will harm our stores and local communities. We need each and every store to write, email and call your US Senator and Representative to let them know you oppose the 10% Tariff and request that bridal gowns and special occasion attire be excluded from the Tariff list.
Remember Trump’s last administration assessed a 7.5% tax. So the additional 10% tariff on top of the already existing 7.5% tariff, in addition to the duty of 16% to the new tariff schedule means 33.5% on top of the FOB price leaving the factories! That is too much to bear for our stores and our customers!
SENDING YOUR LETTER IS EASY!
1 - Use the attached letter as-is or use it as a starter for your own version.
See the attached Fact Sheet and NBRA’s original letter to assist with your own letter or you can download the attachments directly at: https://www.
2 - Once you have your final letter, make three digital copies.
3- Use this link to input your home address & find the mailing address of your US Senators and Representative. https://www.congress.gov/
4 - Add the name & address of one of your Senators to a letter and repeat for your 2nd Senator’s letter. Then add the name and address of your Representative to the 3rd letter.
5 - Print & sign your letters, include your printed name, address, phone number and email
6 - Stuff, seal, stamp and mail!
NEXT STEPS:
1 - IMMEDIATELY EMAIL your letters to your US Senators & Representatives
2 - IMMEDIATELY CALL your US Senators & Representatives. You can use your letter, attached fact sheet and phone script for reference during your call.
3 - BONUS - Call, Email and Mail a letter to the Senator and Representative that represents your business location, if different from your home area.
4. - EXTRA CREDIT!! - Call, Email and Mail a letter to President Trump, Vice-President JD Vance and Speaker of the House Mike Johnson.
Let’s keep the pressure on! Keep emailing and calling your Legislators. As the NBRA continues its efforts on behalf of our industry, your individual voice will have an equally powerful impact.
